Termly Curriculum Overviews
How can you help?
We hope that you can support your child with the learning that they are doing here in school by asking your child to talk about what they have learnt. If your child would like to do further learning at home, here are some suggestions that you may like to explore together:
Autumn Term:
All about me / Icy Worlds
- Talk about who is in your family and where they live.
- Look in the mirror and describe what you look like... do I look the same as you?
- Name parts of the body during bathtime/ dressing - sing heads shoulders knees and toes.
- Read familiar stories and sing nursery rhymes
- Encourage your child to have a go at getting themselves dressed, using the toilet, using a knife and fork.
- Have a go at finding a book that is set in a cold place and read it together.
- Go on a wintery walk - wrap up warm and notice the ice on the ground, the frost patterns and your breath in the air..
Spring Term:
People who help us/ Everything grows
- Talk to your child about all the people in our communities who help them - doctors, nurses, dentists, police, shop keepers etc
- Make a healthy lunch together
- Plant some seeds together and watch them grow
- Go on a spring walk - look for signs of things growing
Summer Term:
Enchanted kingdoms/ Let's go on a journey
- Read different stories about princes/ princesses/ magical creatures
- Make your own fairy garden
- Go on a bus journey
- Go for a walk and look for different types of transport - car, lorry, bike, scooter etc
- Go on your own journey somewhere and take photos
We absolutely love seeing what your child has been up to and will always be happy to share it with the class as well as reward with Dojo points for their hard work and creativity.
Please do not hesitate to message us over Class Dojo or talk to us at the end of the school day if you have any questions about your child's learning.
